Retraction, Withdrawal & Correction Policy
Policy Statement
Jurnal Kesehatan Yatsi Madani is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. This policy establishes the procedures for manuscript withdrawal, article correction, retraction, and the publication of an Expression of Concern when necessary.
Editorial decisions shall be based on relevant evidence, fair assessment, and the seriousness of the issue identified.
1. Manuscript Withdrawal
Withdrawal applies to manuscripts that have not yet been formally published. Authors who wish to withdraw a manuscript must submit a written request to the Editorial Office, stating the reasons for withdrawal and confirming that all co-authors agree with the request.
Once an article has been formally published, it should not ordinarily be withdrawn. Any subsequent concerns shall be handled through the correction, retraction, or other appropriate editorial procedures.
2. Article Correction
A correction may be published when an error is identified in a published article but does not invalidate its main findings or conclusions. Examples include errors in author information, data presentation, figures, tables, or other factual details.
The Editorial Team will assess the reported error and determine whether a correction is necessary. Any correction notice will clearly identify the affected article and explain the changes made.
3. Article Retraction
An article may be retracted when reliable evidence indicates that its findings or scholarly integrity are seriously compromised. Grounds for retraction may include:
-
Significant errors that render the findings or conclusions unreliable.
-
Fabrication or falsification of research data.
-
Plagiarism or substantial duplicate publication.
-
Serious violations of research ethics, including issues involving informed consent or research participants' rights.
-
Manipulation of the peer-review process or other serious publication misconduct.
Retraction decisions will be made by the Editorial Team following an appropriate assessment of the available evidence and, where necessary, consultation with independent experts or relevant institutions. Scholarly disagreement alone is not sufficient grounds for retraction.
4. Expression of Concern
An Expression of Concern may be issued when credible and serious questions arise about a published article, but the available evidence is insufficient to determine whether correction or retraction is warranted.
The notice will explain the nature of the concern and will be linked to the affected article where technically possible. Further editorial action may be taken when additional evidence becomes available.
5. Editorial Assessment Procedure
Concerns regarding a submitted or published manuscript may be reported by authors, reviewers, readers, research participants, or relevant institutions. The Editorial Team will assess the information and may:
-
Review the allegation and supporting evidence.
-
Request clarification or a response from the authors concerned.
-
Consult independent experts or relevant institutions when necessary.
-
Determine the appropriate editorial action based on the findings.
-
Inform the relevant parties of the decision, subject to confidentiality requirements.
All cases will be handled fairly and impartially, with due regard for confidentiality and the rights of the parties involved.
6. Publication Notices and Record Preservation
Corrections, retractions, and Expressions of Concern will be clearly identified and linked to the affected article where technically possible. Notices should state the reason for the editorial action and provide sufficient information to identify the article.
Retracted articles will normally remain accessible with a clear retraction notice to preserve the scholarly record. Removal of an article may be considered only in exceptional circumstances, such as serious legal, privacy, confidentiality, or safety concerns.
Commitment to Publication Integrity
Jurnal Kesehatan Yatsi Madani is committed to addressing publication errors and ethical concerns responsibly and transparently to protect readers, research participants, authors, and the integrity of scholarly communication.
